My mother insists she is not developing dementia. Yesterday she rang me and said:
"I had a call from Uncle Jim. Apparently Christmas is at your place." I answered:
"Yes Mum you've asked me four times." We laughed.
The rest of the conversation was about what is to be done on the day.
My brother-in-law, David, always went to a great deal of effort, but now that he is separated from my sister, we did not think it right to impose on him. We are hoping he will come along as he is still very much a part of our family.
Fortunately I do not have to stress about cooking a big roast dinner, I just have to clean and tidy-up and sign post a few things. It's pretty much BYO everything including portable barbeques.
I am however, hoping for a fine day. My living room french doors open out to a large courtyard which is a great space for entertaining. However, if the weather is bad I dread the idea of the extended family in my one bedroom flat!
